After encountering some delays, Calgary Flames prospect Cade Littler is finally set to embark on his college hockey journey. Selected by the Flames in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Littler was chosen for his promising potential despite being a late-round pick with a longer developmental path ahead.
Born in July, Littler initially planned to play the 2022-23 season in the BCHL with subsequent enrollment at Minnesota State University – Mankato for 2023-24. However, a coaching change altered his course, prompting him to reconsider his commitment and redirect his collegiate plans to the University of North Dakota for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
During the 2023-24 season, Littler split his time between the USHL’s Cedar Rapids Roughriders and the BCHL’s Penticton Vees. He showcased his adaptability and skill progression, tallying 11 points in 14 games with Cedar Rapids before moving to Penticton, where he contributed 21 points in 24 games. This transition provided Littler with valuable exposure to diverse hockey environments, including the opportunity to play under his father, Bliss, who serves as the general manager of the Penticton Vees.

Despite the departure of key players to professional leagues, the team remains robust with 15 members who participated in NHL development camps, including 12 NHL draft picks like Littler himself.
