Today, the Czech National Team announced their nominees for the annual men’s and women’s Player of the Year awards, with David Pastrnak unsurprisingly leading the pack.
Pastrnak has firmly established himself as a top contender for the prestigious Golden Hockey Stick award, claiming it seven times in the past eight years, with only Jaromir Jagr’s record 12 wins ahead of him.
Pasta’s achievements this year speak volumes: leading the Bruins in both regular season goals and points, ranking second in playoff goals, consistently placing in the NHL’s top 10 goal scorers, and playing a pivotal role in the Czech national team’s journey to the World Championship, including scoring the opening and game-winning goals against Switzerland in the finals.
One can only imagine the amount of celebratory beer he’s consumed over the past two months thanks to those goals.
The Czech Sportsperson of 2024 has yet to be named, and Pastrnak may well be in contention for that title next. His previous win was certainly memorable.
