Tottenham now decide to make ‘one of the top 10 players in Europe’ their priority signing

According to a recent report, Tottenham have set their sights on one of the best players in Europe this summer transfer window.

Since Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich last summer, the North Londoners have really missed a prolific number nine.

Richarlison has certainly improved in that role but it’s become evident that if Spurs want to progress to the next level, they need to dip into the transfer market for a top-level number nine.

With that said, it has just emerged, that they’ve made a prolific striker their top priority this window.

Tottenham make Santiago Gimenez top priority

According to GiveMeSport, Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is considered the ‘leading candidate’ to become Tottenham’s new striker.

The report further claims that they’re looking at Tammy Abraham, Serhou Guirassy, Lois Openda and Ivan Toney.

Though, at this stage, it’s thought they’re most likely to move for Gimenez, who is considered ‘one of the top 10 players in Europe’.

The 23-year-old, capped 27 times by Mexico, scored 26 goals whilst laying on eight assists last season for Arne Slot’s side.

That came after a 28-goal season the previous year.

The cost of Santiago Gimenez

Gimenez is valued at £42m by the Eredivisie outfit, which is sure to attract interest from a number of top suitors around the continent.

In fact, North London rivals Arsenal have been mooted as a potential destination, and so too has Liverpool, who could have the advantage in any forthcoming transfer battle.

Slot has worked with Gimenez over the last two seasons so he’ll have already built a relationship with him and his representatives.

Therefore, Liverpool have a direct line already set up, though, they may opt to persist with the hit-and-miss Darwin Nunez.

A telling summer window awaits.
