MASSIVE SANFORD STADIUM RENOVATION: UGA Expands Capacity for 2024 Season and more

As the 2024 season approaches, the Georgia Bulldogs are set to offer an even larger experience for their fans at Sanford Stadium. Originally built in 1929, Sanford Stadium in Athens has become a renowned venue over the decades, hosting memorable football games, concerts, and even Olympic events. This year, the stadium has undergone significant renovations, including the addition of a new media press box and updates to the donor suites. These improvements have increased the stadium’s seating capacity from 92,746 to 93,033, making it the sixth-largest stadium in the SEC and enhancing the Bulldogs’ home-field advantage.

The expanded Sanford Stadium will debut on September 7, 2024, when the Georgia Bulldogs face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in their first home game of the season. Fans, numbering up to 93,000, will get their first look at the upgraded facilities as the Bulldogs aim to continue their impressive home win streak, which has been ongoing for over five seasons.
