Tyreeq Bakinson may not find himself clubless for very long as his Sheffield Wednesday spell comes to an end.
The 25-year-old midfielder is out of contract at Hillsborough at the end of June, and the club confirmed earlier this month that he would not be extending his stay in South Yorkshire.
Bakinson spent the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign out on loan at Charlton Athletic, playing 15 times for the Addicks after sealing a January move, and he also featured 10 times across all competitions for the Owls prior to leaving in the new year.
All in all the former Bristol City man turned out in Wednesday colours on 42 different occasions, scoring twice, and it was decided that he would be better off finding himself a new club elsewhere as he looks to take the next steps in his career.
With that in mind, it has been reported that League One outfit, Wycombe Wanderers, have shown a keen interest in bringing him on board after they were taken over by Kazakhstani-Georgian billionaire, Mikheil Lomtadze, with FootballTransfers saying that they are in ‘advanced talks’ to land Bakinson’s signature.
The Chairboys have already made their first summer signing, snapping up Exeter City man, Alex Hartridge, who will officially join on July 1st once his deal with the Grecians comes to an end. The hope, it would appear, is that Bakinson will follow suit in the near future.
