Another transfer from the Michigan football team has emerged, marking the second consecutive day with such news. Jeremiah Beasley, a highly-rated freshman from Belleville, who enrolled at the university in December, has entered the transfer portal without having played a game for the Wolverines. This development comes shortly after DJ Waller Jr., a sophomore defensive back, also entered the portal.
Beasley, a four-star prospect according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, was regarded as the 31st best linebacker in the nation and the 8th best player in the state when he committed to Michigan. He chose the Wolverines over Michigan State, where he had been considered a likely choice for several months.
During the winter, Beasley was among the new recruits who joined the team and had the opportunity to participate in bowl practices. He was also present for Michigan’s College Football Playoff semifinal victory in the Rose Bowl and the championship game in Houston.
In a previous interview with the Detroit Free Press in December, Beasley expressed his eagerness to make an impact in his first year on campus, drawing inspiration from the achievements of his fellow recruits, Will Johnson and Semaj Morgan.
The linebacker position at Michigan, under the guidance of new coach Brian Jean-Mary, boasts considerable depth. Projected starters include Ernest Hausmann and Jaishawn Barham (a transfer from Maryland), while Semaj Bridgeman, Jaydon Hood, Micah Pollard, and Jimmy Rolder provide additional depth, presumably ahead of Beasley in the pecking order.
