Jarrod Bowen made a frank admission after West Ham United lost 4-3 to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen assisted our second goal and scored our third against Newcastle, but it all ended in tears for David Moyes and his players.
There were really poor performances on display from the referee and the VAR officials. The decision to award Newcastle a penalty in the second-half was a really poor one – even Jeff Stelling took to social media to share his dismay!
The officials really were poor but we still should have won the game. Losing 4-3 just wasn’t good enough after we had such control of the match at one point.
Kalvin Phillips coming on to replace Michail Antonio on the 68th minute was certainly a turning point for us, and obviously not in a good way.
The result was a choker for everyone involved with the Hammers, and Bowen clearly wasn’t happy after the match…

The 27-year-old Hammers attacker was one of our better performers at St James’ Park on the day.
And he was clearly gutted to be on the losing team when the final whistle blew yesterday.
Bowen spoke to reporters after the game, and made a really honest admission, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
That’s remarkable honesty from Bowen.
Firstly, he’s suggesting that the 4-3 defeat to the Toon was all on the players. Many West Ham fans watching the match blamed Moyes for his decision to replace Antonio with Phillips whilst we were leading 3-1, with around 25 minutes still to play.
Secondly, if Bowen and his West Ham teammates knew what was going to happen, why didn’t they take more responsibility to prevent the situation from manifesting against Newcastle?
Personally, I blame Moyes and the players. The Scot’s in-game management was poor and the players folded like a cheap suit.
On to the next one eh? Let’s just hope that the players are up for the Tottenham game on Tuesday
