Donovan Peoples-Jones, hailed as one of the top wide receiver prospects in his class, was recruited by Michigan in 2017 with high hopes of becoming one of the most accomplished receivers in the school’s history. However, despite the initial expectations, he fell short of achieving this feat. Throughout his three-year tenure at Michigan, he failed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. Consequently, he made the decision to leave the university and entered his name into the 2020 NFL draft. Eventually, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 187th overall pick.

Peoples-Jones enjoyed a productive stint of three and a half years with the Cleveland Browns, showcasing his abilities on the field. At times, it appeared that he was on track to secure a contract extension with the team. However, during last year’s NFL trade deadline, the Browns made the decision to trade him to the Detroit Lions.
Unfortunately, his time in Detroit did not yield significant results. Throughout his eight games with the Lions, he managed to catch just five passes for a total of 58 yards, failing to score any touchdowns.
As a result, Peoples-Jones missed out on a substantial financial opportunity during the recent offseason. Nevertheless, he has agreed to return to the Lions on a one-year contract. The deal, which was announced on Saturday, is reportedly worth up to two million dollars, according to Bleacher Report.
Peoples-Jones Going Back To The Lions Is Great
Returning to the Lions is a strategic move for Peoples-Jones, as the team has demonstrated its competence on the football field. Just two months ago, they made it to the NFC title game, indicating their capability to compete at a high level. Additionally, quarterback Jared Goff’s inclination to throw the ball frequently bodes well for Peoples-Jones. While he may not be among the top receivers on the roster, he possesses undeniable talent.
