‘I’m expecting’: TalkSPORT journalist has just explained what punishment he thinks Nottingham Forest will get

Alex Crook has just delivered an update on the situation at Nottingham Forest live on TalkSPORT. The Reds are waiting intently to receive the outcome of their Profitability and Sustainability charge.

The Reds could face a points deduction when the decision comes. However, the best-case scenario could see Forest face a hefty fine – or even be banned from making transfers.

So, what update has Crook now delivered live on air? Let’s take a closer look at what he believes will happen to Forest when the announcement is made…

What Alex Crook thinks will happen to Nottingham Forest

Well, this is going to be the most anticipated news of the day for those of a Forest persuasion. The Reds fan base simply want to know now and are sick of waiting around.

Forest have had this hanging over them for months and it’s not ideal for the Premier League to put clubs through the mill like this.

Crook doesn’t think that it’s a foregone conclusion that Forest will even be deducted points. However, he is expecting that some will be taken off the Reds.

He said live on TalkSPORT: “I think some people are suggesting that precedent has been set but I’ve spoken to people close to the situation and apparently each case is done on a case-by-case situation.

“So, I don’t think it’s guaranteed that it’ll be a points deduction but I think a lot of Premier League clubs are expecting that it will be.

“Today is going to be a really big day for them and also other clubs fighting to stay up.

“If it’s four points they will drop into the relegation zone

“Their case is more complicated in some ways than Everton’s. In two of the three years Forest were penalised for they were in the Championship and we don’t know how far they breached at this moment in time.

“Their defence is centred around Brennan Johnson. They’re saying they held out for more money in the spirit of the profitability and sustainability regulations.

Crook comments do offer some hope

Hopefully, common sense can prevail here. Forest have broken the rules and they deserve punishing but ultimately, the Premier League are so unconvinced by their current rules that they’re being changed again next season!

As a result, hopefully, Forest can see their case become successful and it will be no more than a three-point deduction and they can remain above the dotted line.

Forest drew 1-1 with Luton on Saturday and now they face an anxious wait. Supporters will have everything crossed and they will cling to the fact that Crook doesn’t think a points deduction is guaranteed at this stage.
