The highly anticipated legal tampering period of NFL free agency is just around the corner, and while the excitement revolves around potential new acquisitions for the Cleveland Browns, it’s equally important to consider the fate of the team’s own free agents from the 2023 season. Which players will stay, and who will depart?
In recent weeks, I conducted polls alongside articles examining each position with free agents, and now it’s time to reveal the results. These poll summaries provide insights into the players Browns fans are eager to see retained.
Regarding the quarterback position, 50% of fans anticipate the re-signing of Joe Flacco. Lesser support is shown for Jeff Driskel (7%) and P.J. Walker (4%), while 40% of fans believe none of them will return.
At running back, a resounding 71% of fans are in favor of re-signing Kareem Hunt.
In the wide receiver category, the poll was conducted before the team’s recent trade. Nevertheless, 23% of fans expressed their desire for James Proche to return, followed by Jakeem Grant (7%) and Marquise Goodwin (7%). However, the majority of fans (63%) are content with none of them being re-signed.
When it comes to tight end, an overwhelming 80% of fans want Harrison Bryant to be brought back.
Moving to the offensive line, 53% of fans want Michael Dunn to return, while 44% advocate for the re-signing of Nick Harris. Geron Christian receives support from 27% of fans, but 15% are fine with none of them returning.
Within the defensive line, 65% of fans are keen on Za’Darius Smith being re-signed. Additionally, veterans Shelby Harris and Maurice Hurst receive significant backing, with 87% of fans wanting Harris back and the same percentage supporting Hurst. Jordan Elliott, on the other hand, garners less support, with only 23% of fans desiring his re-signing.
At linebacker, an overwhelming 95% of fans want Sione Takitaki to return. However, only 49% see a potential return for Anthony Walker. Due to Jacob Phillips’ injury history, only 15% of fans believe he should be re-signed.
In the defensive backfield, 65% of fans are in favor of Mike Ford’s return, while 56% want Rodney McLeod back, and 12% are keen on Duron Harmon’s re-signing. On the other hand, 18% of fans prefer none of them to be retained.
Finally, at the punter position, a staggering 98% of fans are in favor of Corey Bojorquez being brought back.
