The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets aren’t exactly sending each other flowers come game day, and things might just get messier in 2024, all thanks to Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins. He didn’t hold back in a recent interview, aiming some choice words at the Jets and defensive end Micheal Clemons.
Dawkins branded Clemons a “b—- boy” and pointed fingers at him for sparking a postgame tiff in the tunnel at Highmark Stadium back in November after the Bills stomped the Jets 32-6. “Weirdos being weird,” Dawkins shrugged when asked about the ruckus.
And he didn’t stop there. Dawkins admitted his disdain for the Jets squad, saying, “I hate them, all of them, bro… They play the sport just to try to be cool. Those are a bunch of dudes that just want to take pictures on Instagram. That’s whack.”
But hold up, he did throw a bone to Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, acknowledging him as “valid” and claiming, “I like him.”
As for Clemons, Dawkins revleaved what went down during a TV timeout. Apparently, Clemons was going off at quarterback Josh Allen, which set Dawkins off. “First of all, why are you talking to my quarterback? Don’t talk to my quarterback,” Dawkins barked. “Stay over there. Don’t say nothing to none of my guys. Just stay over there, son. Don’t talk to him. Don’t say nothing to him at all, right?”
And when Clemons started trash-talking the entire Bills team, Dawkins saw red. “What am I supposed to do? I’m the OG. I’ve been on this line for the longest. I’m the one that’s going to punch you in your face,” he stated matter-of-factly.
Despite Dawkins’ warning, Clemons didn’t back down. The next play, Dawkins laid him out, resulting in some unnecessary roughness and a fine for Dawkins.
But the drama didn’t end on the field. Dawkins claimed Clemons followed him up the tunnel after the game, but didn’t have the guts to square up. “If you’re going to run up on somebody, run all the way up on somebody,” Dawkins retorted. “Don’t run up and stop 5 yards behind and just start talking. So, when he did that, I’m like, ‘First of all, you really don’t want to fight me. You’re really a b—-.’”
And while no punches were thrown, tensions remained high. Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner chimed in on social media, making it clear he’s all about the game and not interested in any NFL beef.
The Bills and Jets split the season series, with the Jets snagging the opener in OT, but not without a cost as they lost QB Aaron Rodgers to a season-ender.
