West Brom takeover: Reading FC group react as Guochuan Lai era to end after Shilen Patel news.

Reading fan group Sell Before We Dai have sent their congratulations to West Brom fans after the news that Shilen Patel is now to complete a takeover.

The Royals supporters reacted via Twitter late on 15 February after the news broke that the Guochuan Lai era is set to end at The Hawthorns, as they continue to hope for the same to happen with the Dai Yongge ownership of their club.

And Action for Albion responded to the message to pledge their continued support for their Reading counterparts.

West Brom confirmed via their website the same night that Patel and his father Dr Kiran C. Patel have reached a deal to acquire 87.8% of the club’s parent company West Bromwich Albion Group Ltd. late on Thursday evening.

Sell Before We Dai reacted to say: “Congratulations to all WBA fans and Action for Albion on the takeover news. We can’t wait for the day we post something similar.”

Action for Albion replied: “Thank you. We’ll continue to support in any way we can in your battle. Appreciate the message.”

There is obvious solidarity between the two clubs’ supporters because of their shared experiences in fearing for the future of West Brom and Reading under unsuitable ownership.

So if and when the same change comes about in Berkshire the Baggies fans will likely be just as pleased in return.

It seemed for so long like the much-needed change to bring an end Lai’s time as majority shareholder might never come, and with the financial picture worsening behind the scenes with every passing month there has been plenty of understandable worry around the club, even allowing for the excellent work being done on the pitch.

There will likely still need to be uncomfortable moves made to cut costs all the same but above all the future of the club suddenly has some clarity and attention can finally start to turn back to equipping Carlos Corberan to manage the team properly.

Patel and his father will understandably come in at The Hawthorns on a wave of positivity thanks to the regime they are taking over from, and it is up to them now to match up expectations in improving the way the club is run.
