Newcastle United is reportedly interested in a double move for Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and Phillip Billing during the upcoming transfer window. The move has been fueled by the impressive performances of Kelly under Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola. Despite being a subject of interest by Liverpool and Tottenham in January, Kelly’s contract is reportedly set to expire at the end of the season. As such, Italian giants A.C. Milan and former French champions Monaco are also said to be interested in his services. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can secure a move for the defender before he becomes a free agent.
Having joined the Cherries in 2019, Lloyd Kelly has made a total of 119 appearances for the team. This season, he has played in 11 matches. He has demonstrated versatility by being comfortable in both centre-back and left-back positions, similar to Dan Burn. Sources say the Magpies are also considering making a move for Phillip Billing, who was considered during the January transfer window. Billing, another player who had worked with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe during Howe’s tenure at Bournemouth, may be a viable option given Newcastle’s current troubles with Financial Fair Play and Joelinton’s uncertain future. The Danish international’s price tag is reportedly set at £15 million. Whether or not Newcastle will acquire either player during the upcoming transfer window has yet to be seen.
