Travis Smith Jr., a highly touted four-star wide receiver recruit, has decided to commit to the Tennessee Volunteers instead of the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Auburn Tigers. Originally expected to choose Georgia, Smith’s commitment shifted towards Tennessee leading up to his announcement.
Ranked as the 15th best wide receiver recruit in the class of 2025, Smith represents a significant addition to Tennessee’s recruiting efforts, currently placing them 15th nationally in their recruiting class rankings. Despite missing out on Smith, Georgia maintains a strong recruiting position with the third best class in the nation for 2025.
Prior to his commitment, Smith conducted official visits to all four of his top choices. Hailing from Atlanta’s Westlake High School, he stands at 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, possessing impressive athleticism that also extends to basketball and track and field. According to 247Sports, Smith is ranked as the 149th overall recruit in the country and the 20th best prospect in Georgia for the 2025 cycle.
In addition to Smith, Tennessee is expected to secure another significant recruit in the form of four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte, potentially flipping him away from Georgia, further bolstering their recruiting efforts.
Meanwhile, Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs have secured commitments from four wide receivers and a total of 19 recruits for the class of 2025.
