Former New Orleans Saints third-round pick Tre’Quan Smith has signed a reserve/future deal with the Detroit Lions, reuniting with his previous coach Dan Campbell after spending last season on the practice squad in Denver. Smith played in only one game for the Broncos after joining them in October 2021. Smith’s training camp with the Saints was an unusual one in August, as he was missing in action, and his absence posed a mystery. He was eventually placed on injured reserve on September 9 but was later released on September 26. Smith had lost his reps and role during that time.
