Criteria for ‘Hard Knocks’ Participation
The partnership between HBO and NFL Films has outlined specific criteria for teams’ participation in the reality show. Teams that have a first-year coach, have made the playoffs in the last two years, or have appeared on ‘Hard Knocks’ in the previous decade, are exempt from mandatory participation. Teams not fitting these exemptions can volunteer, but if insufficient teams step forward, those fitting the criteria may be chosen.
The Chicago Bears’ Potential Involvement
Considering the Bears have not made the playoffs since 2020, and with only four teams having a longer postseason absence, they might be an attractive choice for the show. However, the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints remain in the pool of teams that could be compelled to appear on the show. The potential involvement of Broncos coach Sean Payton in the reality series could be a compelling development, particularly if the Bears retain the No. 1 overall pick and select USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
