Florida State football is having one of its worst seasons in history, with only two games left to play. Averaging just 13.3 points per game, this marks the sixth-worst offensive performance in the program’s history. They’ve struggled to score more than two touchdowns in any game this season.
On the defensive side, things aren’t much better. The Seminoles have allowed over four touchdowns in six of their ten games, with a crushing 52-point loss to Notre Dame being the worst defeat.
The issues with the team are widespread, but it’s ultimately up to the coaching staff to address them. Despite 10 games of struggles, the team’s coaches haven’t fixed the problems. Earlier today, head coach Mike Norvell took steps toward change by announcing the firing of three assistant coaches: offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.
Atkins and Fuller were hired by Norvell when he took over as head coach, while Dugans had been with the team since Willie Taggart’s tenure in 2019.
The news shocked many fans, who took to social media to express their hope that these changes will lead to a better future for the program.
