HOT OFF THE PRESS: Star Receiver Zachariah Branch Picks USC, Reveals Key Reasons Behind Trojans Commitment

Wide receiver Zachariah Branch, a standout with an impressive high school football record, chose USC over numerous other offers. In an interview with College Football analyst Adam Breneman, Branch shared his reasons for selecting the Trojans. He revealed that USC had always been a dream school for him, influenced by his childhood visits to games and his connection with his brother, USC redshirt sophomore Zion Branch. The university’s rich tradition, history, and academic reputation were significant factors in his decision, as he valued having a solid plan for his future.

Branch’s high school achievements were notable, including participation in the 2023 Under Armour All-American Game, the 2022 Nevada Preps All-Southern Nevada First Team selection, and winning the Nevada 5A Football State Championship. Additionally, he excelled in track, winning regional titles in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and long jump in 2021. These accomplishments attracted offers from top programs like Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, and Ohio State, among others.

Branch and his brother Zion ultimately chose USC over Ohio State. Zion had joined USC in 2022 but spent his first two years redshirting. Zachariah, on the other hand, made an immediate impact as a sophomore in 2023, leading the team with four receptions and a touchdown in his debut game, plus a 96-yard kickoff return for another score. His performance earned him the distinction of USC’s first-ever true freshman First-Team All-American.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley, who had been recruiting the Branch brothers since they were in middle and high school, played a crucial role in their decision. When Riley was appointed as USC’s head coach, the Branch brothers were certain about their choice, leading to their commitment to the Trojans.
