EJ Walker talks recruitment.
EJ Walker, the No. 116 overall prospect in the class of 2025 is in the process of setting up additional visits. Walker, a 6-foot-8, 220 pound forward from Erlanger (Ky.) has already taken a host of visits and looks to build on the relationships started with each school recruiting him.
“I visited Minnesota in the early fall, Wisconsin twice, Ohio State and Purdue a couple times, and Xavier, and Louisville once.”
Walker continued: “I’ve been talking with most the schools that offered me already like Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Butler, Xavier and West Virginia,” he said. “The ones that haven’t offered that I’ve been talking with are Kansas, Texas, UCLA, Arkansas, Stanford, Tennessee and Louisville.”
While Walker hasn’t set any officials he has confirmed a future visit to Tennessee and has other destinations in mind.
“I’m taking an unofficial visit to Tennessee on the 20th of this month and I’ll be going to a Louisville game at some point,” he said. “I’m also taking a visit to South Carolina in the spring.”
Walker continued: “When it comes to officials I haven’t taken any yet or set dates but I’m going to real soon,” he said. “Right now the ones who want me to come on an official are Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue, Ohio State, and South Carolina. Those are the five that talked about officials with me.”
Walker broke down some of the schools involved with 247Sports.
Wisconsin: “I talk with coach Chambliss almost every week. We went to a game when they played Tennessee earlier in season. I spoke with coach Gard as well and had a good time up there.”
Minnesota: “That relationship is good too. All the coaches are good. I talk with coach Johnson every week probably.”
Louisville: “Coach Manning checks in a lot and Coach Payne is supposed to come to a couple of my games later in the season. We’re just building that relationship right now since they haven’t officially offered yet.”
Walker will look to move forward with his process sometime this spring with a list of his top 10 schools.
“Sometime in late February or early March I’ll drop my top 10 just to narrow it down a little bit, he said. “Hopefully after that I’ll be able to make a decision.”
He continued: “I want to make my decision before AAU starts but that’s depending on if I get new offers. I definitely want to make it before school starts or before the end of the summer.”
