Fans react after Danny Rohl’s “thrilling” message to Bailey Cadamarteri gets revealed

Danny Rohl praised Sheffield Wednesday striker Bailey Cadamarteri after he made his Championship debut yesterday. The Owls were thrashed 4-0 by Millwall but the youngster was a standout.

It never rains it pours for Wednesday. Yesterday, Michael Smith was ruled out through injury and Lee Gregory wasn’t involved in the matchday squad for whatever reason.

Cadamarteri was given Gregory’s place in the Wednesday squad yesterday. He was given a run out from the bench, with Rohl throwing him into the match at half-time.

Rohl lauds Cadamarteri after Wednesday capitulate

The 18-year-old has been bang in form for the Wednesday Under-21s this season. He’s already hit double figures for the campaign and he deserved his chance yesterday.

After the game, Rohl was quizzed on the talented teenager. The Wednesday boss was impressed with the impact Cadamarteri made and it’s perhaps likely that he will be featuring again in the near future.

He told The Star: “It was a result of his training performance. He showed that he can run, he has pace and speed. Also, he was always dangerous in the box and I like this, I like players who are brave to come in and show. I will improve him and develop him.”

Future looks bright for Cadamarteri

The teenager looks like being the future at Hillsborough. It sounds as though the youngster will get more game time under Rohl and that bodes well for his development.

It was a bit of a shame to see Gregory not named in the matchday squad. He’s not scored since the opening day of the season but he is a player who knows where the net is.

Cadamarteri could now get the chance to stake his claim for a regular Wednesday place in the future. It sounds like Rohl is keen to make him better and he could prove very useful as Wednesday fight relegation
