Leeds United winger and Everton defender on Newcastle’s radar
Newcastle are interested in bringing Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville to the club this month, according to Football Transfers. The 22-year-old has been in scintillating form for Daniel Farke’s side, netting 12 goals and six assists in the first half of the Championship season.
The same report also claims Ben Godfrey is an option for the Magpies, with both he and Summerville having been the subject of recruitment meetings involving Newcastle United’s decision makers in the last transfer window.
Godfrey has made only two appearances for Everton this season with the versatile defender set to available to around £9m, with his contract entering its final 18 months.
Eddie Howe’s attacking options could be strengthened this month if links to Salernitana attacker Boulaye Dia are to be believed. The Senegal international has impressed for the Serie A strugglers despite them sitting bottom of the league, and it’s expected that a bigger club will come calling sooner rather than later.
Sure enough, the report from La Citta di Salerno claims Newcastle are rivalling Arsenal and AC Milan for his signature who has a value of £15.5 million according to Transfermarkt.
Deal for Kalvin Phillips looking ‘unlikely’ this month
Asked any Newcastle United fan who think their club will sign, and most would put Kalvin Phillips top of the list. The Manchester City midfielder is out of favour at the Etihad and, with a European Championship campaign around the corner, his exit looks increasingly inevitable.
But despite constant links to St James’ Park, the Daily Mail are reporting that a move for the England international is ‘unlikely’ this month, with the club unable to make the numbers add up on what is likely to be an expensive loan deal.
The Magpies know that a temporary deal would cost them an eye-watering £7.5m, and the report points out that the only way a deal can be struck is if a compromise is found which isn’t likely to happen until later in the window, if at all.
