After the Las Vegas Raiders dropped a franchise-record 63 points on the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Brandon Staley’s fate was sealed, with the struggling franchise deciding to make a move on Friday.
The Chargers officially parted ways with Staley on Friday after the embarrassing loss to the Raiders, which has prompted a number of opinions about what went wrong and what the future holds for one of the most talented teams in the NFL.
On Friday, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked about the Chargers firing Staley and what he thought about the situation that happened across the hall at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
McVay talked about how tough the business of the NFL can be and how he knows that Staley will land on his feet somewhere else in the league, via the Rams’ YouTube channel.
With Staley failing to live up to expectations with a team that has a superstar quarterback in Justin Herbert and a lot of talent on both sides of the football, there’s no telling when he’ll get that next opportunity in the NFL, as he might have to wait a year or two to get back in the fold, even in a different role.
However, the Chargers job will be arguably the most appealing of any coaching vacancy in the NFL during the offseason, with rumors already swirling about legendary head coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots being the ideal candidate to turn the franchise around in the years to come.
