Lewis Cox was full of praise for West Brom wonder Tom Fellows after his performance in the 1-0 win against Cardiff, once again proving the prospective owners right in their call to keep him at The Hawthorns.
The Daily Mail [11 November] claimed that Leicester and Southampton are both interested in Fellows, but the prospective owners are determined not to lose their star academy product and want to keep him at Albion.
The 20-year-old once again proved them right with his performance on Tuesday night and showed a glimpse of how bright his future could be with the Baggies.
Cox, a West Brom reporter for the Express & Star, gushed over the display as shared by Jonny Drury, also of The Star, on Twitter, stating: “A quick word for Tom Fellows. I mean, how good was his cameo? Wow.
“You talk about [Matt] Phillips being able to come on, and [Josh] Maja and BTA and [Jayson] Molumby in midfield, but Fellows probably shone out of all of them. How good was he?
“He should have led to a second goal really for Albion, he was so good. He’s so influential in those kinds of moments and he’ll grow from that.”
Fellows’ impact is becoming more and more noticeable at The Hawthorns as he is earning more trust and therefore game time under Carlos Corberan, with his cameo appearances often decisive and eye-catching such is his style of play.
The winger played 25 minutes against Cardiff from the bench and was able to make an impact in that time despite the Baggies struggling to pull their 1-0 lead any further ahead.
The 20-year-old showed his bravery and willingness to express himself in possession and try to make things happen as he fired in five crosses, attempted two dribbles and almost set up a second goal for his side.
His 75% pass accuracy and 50% duel success percentages also stand out as displays of what he can do on and off the ball to impact the game in favour of the Baggies. [Sofascore]
So far, Fellows has proved the prospective new owners right. West Brom should do all they can to keep hold of him, and not entertain bids from Championship rivals as he continues to grow and flourish at The Hawthorns.
