Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-Min has now admitted that he was worried about one thing before his side met Fulham on Monday
Son was speaking to Spurs Play after the 2-0 victory against Fulham and admitted that Tottenham always struggle after the international break.
The 31-year-old said that he warned the whole Tottenham squad about this trend and suggested that a win wasn’t a foregone conclusion.
Son said: “I told the players before the game, after the international break we always struggle and the team always struggles, always the results can change.
“I just wanted, Monday night, the fans, we just want to make them happy and with a smile on their face after the game, which we did and I think in the first half we probably could have scored three more goals.”
Perhaps Son was correct given Tottenham did drop below their usual levels in the second half of the victory against Fulham last night.
Dejan Kulusevski thought it was strange that Spurs did suffer a dip given they usually improve as their performances progress.
But what will be reassuring for Tottenham fans, is that both the manager and the players are clearly very keen to make this a one off.
Son was worried that Tottenham might slip up against Fulham.
Spurs’ new captain has been leading by example this season and has enjoyed some scintillating form.
But despite scoring again last night, Son was disappointed with one aspect of his own game.
Son shared that he really regretted his disappointed reaction to being subbed late on by Ange Postecoglou.
The captain said that he should instead be excited for another Tottenham player to be receiving an opportunity.
Of course, that will just be a minor blip on the night.
And Son will surely be chuffed that Tottenham were able to secure 3 points and a clean sheet against Fulham.
Moreover, his manager Ange Postecoglou had made it clear that Guglielmo Vicario was crucial to both.
On a night when Spurs did concede chances, the Italian stood large.
