Claret and Hugh share David Sullivan stance on possible West Ham United takeover
West Ham majority shareholder David Sullivan is unlikely to consider any offers from Sheikh Jassim to purchase the club, according to Claret & Hugh.
Fabrizio Romano reported last Saturday (14 October) that Sheikh Jassim’s £5.7billion takeover of Manchester United had fallen through, leading to suggestions he is seeking another Premier League club to buy.
BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone suggested via Stretford Paddock in July that West Ham could be a club of interest for the mega-rich Qatari.
But Claret & Hugh reported on Thursday (19 October) that, even if Sheikh Jassim turned his attention to the Hammers, it is unlikely the current owners would consider selling.
The report adds: “Majority shareholder David Sullivan appears content with running the club and is making decisions that suggest he is planning for the future.
“Co-owner Daniel Kretinsky’s intentions are less predictable, but he already has significant commitments elsewhere. The Czech is certainly not desperate for funds from a West Ham sale.”
No complaints
As exciting as it would be to have multiple millions pumped into the club, West Ham are not exactly in a bad place right now.
That could soon change, of course, given the way football works, but those currently in charge have the club in their hearts.
The sad passing of David and Jacqueline Gold complicates matters slightly in terms of various shares, but Sullivan does not look like he is ready to sell.
Anyway, Sheikh Jassim would likely look at the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham first if he is indeed interested in buying a club other than Manchester United.
As long as West Ham remain competitive and continue strengthening the squad, as has been the case of late, then there can be no complaints with those high up at the club.
