Following a tough loss to the Jets, the Houston Texans are optimistic about wide receiver Nico Collins’ potential return in Week 10. Collins, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Week 5, is expected to rejoin the lineup in time for the Texans’ upcoming game against the Detroit Lions, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Texans, who struggled offensively without Collins and Stefon Diggs, could greatly benefit from his return. Diggs’ season-ending ACL tear has left the team short-handed in reliable targets for quarterback C.J. Stroud. During Thursday’s game, Stroud completed only 36.7% of his passes, taking eight sacks and lacking consistent options beyond Tank Dell.
Before his injury, Collins averaged an impressive 113.4 receiving yards per game, ranking him ninth in the NFL. His return could be crucial, particularly as the Texans approach a challenging matchup with the Lions. While the team briefly considered acquiring another receiver after Diggs’ injury, reports suggest that Houston might still explore a trade if the right opportunity presents itself.
If Collins remains healthy, the Texans could rely on their current roster, with Robert Woods, Xavier Hutchinson, and John Metchie expected to contribute alongside Dell and tight end Dalton Schultz. Collins’ comeback could provide Stroud with a much-needed offensive boost as Houston fights to stay competitive in the AFC South.
